ARTICULATED ARM SYSTEM
JOINT MANIPULATOR
The articulated arm manipulator from Zeilhofer Handling Technology is a lifting aid for the pendulum-free handling of loads up to 800 kg with a working radius of up to 4.5 meters. It is available in four mounting options: stationary or mobile, each for floor or ceiling mounting. All versions have a load capacity of up to 800 kg; they differ in boom length. The rigid load guidance prevents swinging and enables millimeter-precise positioning.
For each application, the articulated arm manipulator is equipped with a custom-designed device.
Zeilhofer provides the complete solution from a single source, from planning and control systems to fixtures and after-sales service. The manipulator is manufactured at the Holzkirchen site in Germany.
ASSEMBLY OPTIONS
FOUR VARIANTS. ALWAYS RIGID LOAD CONTROL.
The articulated arm manipulator adapts to your hall — not the other way around. Choose the right configuration for your production area.
01 STATIONARY ON THE FLOOR - Fixed workstation with maximum stability
The manipulator is firmly anchored to the factory floor. Ideal for defined workstations with a large operating radius. Particularly economical when used in a fixed location (optionally movable by forklift or pallet truck).
YOUR ADVANTAGES
-
Fixed workstation with maximum stability
-
Easy and quick assembly
-
Rigid load guidance
-
Large working radius up to 4,500 mm
-
Load capacity up to 800 kg
-
Smooth-running lifting cylinder made of aluminum
-
Rotary bearing with 360° continuous rotary feedthrough
-
Rotation stops or limitations of the working area
-
Brakes on the individual axes of rotation
-
different control options (pneumatic, electro-pneumatic)

02 MOBILE ON THE FLOOR - Mobile via forklift or pallet truck, without ceiling penetration
In this version, the articulated arm manipulator is mounted on a stable base plate. The entire unit is mobile and can be flexibly transported to the work site using a pallet truck, electric pallet jack, or forklift.
YOUR ADVANTAGES
-
The mobile solution allows for optimal use of existing space.

03 STATIONARY CEILING & STEEL CONSTRUCTION - Floor remains clear, most space-saving solution
The manipulator is securely anchored to the hall ceiling or a steel structure. It's the most space-saving solution for confined production areas, as the floor remains completely clear for forklifts, vehicles, and employees.
YOUR ADVANTAGES
-
Particularly space-saving solution
-
Free hall floor for operation
-
Rigid load guidance
-
Large working radius up to 4,500 mm
-
Load capacity up to 800 kg

-
Rotation stops or limitations of the working area
-
Brakes on the individual pivot axes
-
different control options (pneumatic, electro-pneumatic)

04 MOVABLE ON THE CEILING & STEEL CONSTRUCTION - Largest operating area
The manipulator is attached to a rail system and can move in the X and Y directions throughout the entire production hall. Maximum flexibility for changing workstations and large hall areas.
YOUR ADVANTAGES
-
Largest work area — entire hall usable
-
Can be used variably for changing stations

FAQ / Q&A
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE JOINT MANIPULATOR
01 What is the load-bearing capacity of the articulated arm manipulator?
The ZH articulated arm manipulator is designed for loads up to 800 kg. This value applies to all four mounting options. The usable lifting capacity depends on the selected boom length: the larger the working radius, the greater the leverage. During the design phase, we work with you to tailor the lifting capacity and reach to your specific application.
02 What is the working radius?
The articulated arm manipulator achieves a working radius of up to 4.5 meters, depending on the selected boom length. This allows for large work areas to be covered, making it ideal for assembly lines and stations where multiple positions need to be reached without changing location.
03 What does pendulum-free load guidance mean?
Pendulum-free load guidance means that the load cannot swing or jerk uncontrollably, as can happen with cable or chain systems. The rigid mechanics of the articulated arm ensure the load is guided firmly at all times – crucial for millimeter-precise positioning and maximum workplace safety.
04 What are the different mounting options?
The articulated arm manipulator is available in four versions: floor-mounted, ceiling-mounted, floor-mobile, or ceiling-mobile. The choice depends on customer requirements, hall height, floor space, and desired mobility—flexibly adaptable to your layout.
05 Which industries benefit the most?
The articulated arm manipulator is primarily used in the automotive industry—typical applications include body construction and final assembly. Other sectors include foundries, the glass and window industry, and special-purpose machine construction, wherever heavy or unwieldy components need to be handled precisely.
06 How is the articulated arm manipulator powered?
The standard drive is pneumatic—a proven, robust concept for continuous industrial use. Compressed air is already available in most production environments, simplifying integration. Pneumatic controls also offer precise operation with high power transmission. Further options are available at any time.
07 Can we have the articulated arm manipulator customized?
Yes. Every articulated arm manipulator is configured specifically for each project: lifting capacity, working radius, mounting option, and fixture are tailored to your application. We develop fixtures such as grippers, suction cups, magnets, or custom solutions from a single source—including preliminary acceptance testing in our Holzkirchen showroom.
